Extra wide sectional garage doors

Domestic sectional garage doors are generally available upto 16ft wide (4877mm) ex-stock in the U.K. However, Carteck generally hold stock of doors upto 5500mm wide in the U.K. and, on slightly longer lead times, can provide doors upto 7500mm wide. These come with heavy duty commercial lifting gear. Headroom required approx. 450mm, 300mm with low headroom gear. These doors are 40mm thick, twin-walled, steel, sectional garage doors with a rigid foam core.

Hormann offer their LPU 40 sectional garage doors in XXL sizes. Most ribbed designs of door are available upto 6500mm wide x 2250mm high.

Cedar sectional and up and over garage doors are both available upto 18ft wide (5487mm). Aluroll insulated roller garage doors can be manufactured to accommodate brickwork openings of upto 5400mm wide.

Steel and GRP up and over doors are generally only available upto 16ft wide, due to the potential for bowing in the open position. Very wide up and over garage doors should not be fitted in windy locations. Sectional and roller garage doors, which rise vertically, do not catch the wind during the open/close cycle, so are much safer and practical for such locations.
